The character's verbal communication was occasionally clumsy or unrealistic. If this was a series, there was no clear indication of where each book ended and new one started.

Illustrations were beautiful. The story is very entertaining kids will love. This book is a 5 star book, can't wait to read it to my grandkids.

I've been following him on his blog (http://principaljohn.com/) and found his writings to be sweet little nuggets -- filled with boundless joy, sad truths, quiet compassion or thoughtful wisdom -- all in bite sized pieces. More importantly, each note is authentic and heartfelt.As a book, I am able to share his writings with my friends - some educators and others not. Don't be fooled that this book is only for people in education. It reminds us that children are our future leaders. When they are given encouragement and the space to grow, the world will be in fine hands. A much needed reminder for all of us.And I have to mention that I am totally ticked by the illustrations sprinkled within the book. If only I could be as cute as the illustrations!

Ants wouldn’t escape his view; nothing small, beautiful and wonderful did. He showed us what we would have missed. And this is what Greg does each time he writes: wisdom gleaned from the kickball diamond; miracles caused by cupcakes; the warmth of light through school room blinds; how chalk marks on a blacktop reveal secrets and then wash them away after a rain; that your heart can be opened day after day when you stand in a playground watching and listening.May this collection help us find our way to helping others see the meaningful details of each and every day, in spite of the distractions of living in a very noisy world.

About the Author Aubrey has been reading and writing since she was about two and a half and has been an avid romance reader since she read her first romance novel in the 6th grade. She wrote her first novel in high school. It was an imaginative historical romance that involved a cross-country trip via covered wagon, and maybe some Indians. She thinks it’s still on a floppy disk somewhere (DOS computer, y’all), but can’t be too sure. These days, she writes contemporary romance with a lot of humor and sass and characters that have issues. She graduated from Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction program with a Master of Arts in 2008. When she's not writing, she can be found with her husband and their two dogs at home in Austin, on their ranch in west Texas, watching a football or baseball game, or with her nose stuck in a (usually virtual) book.

A publisher had asked me to form and edit a new kind of magazine, which was to appeal to the public equally in its letterpress and its illustrations: need I say that I am defining the Savoy? It was, I admit, to have been something of a rival to the Yellow Book, which had by that time ceased to mark a movement, and had come to be little more than a publisher's magazine. I forget exactly when the expulsion of Beardsley from the Yellow Book had occurred; it had been sufficiently recent, at all events, to make Beardsley singularly ready to fall in with my project when I went to him and asked him to devote himself to illustrating my quarterly. JUST GET IT OMG By Leah i'm pretty sure this is his complete works. i LOVE IT. best thing i got this christmas. it includes all kinds of stuff, like early sketches, book covers, etc. TONS of plates, large sizes, most of them take up a whole page. nothing is worse than buying a huge art book and all the pictures are tiny- NOT THE CASE HERE. full page illustrations and tons and tons of them. there are even blown up images of the tiny grotesques from the corners of pages, and images of his cool fonts and stuff. you will not be disappointed!!!!

The plates of his prints are fantastic. I was influenced by him as a young artist and i am grateful to get this book again ( i had it years ago but it was stolen) and keep it in my collection.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Not bad, but could have been much better By Jennifer Rose The rhymes were just not as clever or well-written as the previous two books. We love Demolition and Road Work...but this one fell a little bit flat. I bumped it up to 3 starts because the final construction project is a library, which is a great endorsement for books and reading. I think the author is capable of better, but this book felt like it was rushed.

If you have a child interested in construction equipment and how a building is put up this book will be a hit. Also, if mom or dad works in construction this is a MUST READ! Like the idea that the new building is a library...nice touch!Book provided by publisher.

This book is by the same author and is pretty similar. My son loves it. Lots of onomatopoeia. The book was larger than I expected and was hard-back. I was suprised I got it for such a good price. Hardback books are typically pretty expensive.
