By solocanoe I bought this for my 15 year old daughter and promised her a $250 shopping card if she'd read it over the summer and give me a good review on it. I told her I would be asking her questions and she had to give me both a written and oral review to get the cash.I was married at 25, she was born by 27. Despite avoiding being married earlier...now in my early 40's...I wish I had waited until 30, or even 35. I certainly knew I was different at 25 than 18. I'd been in the US Army, lived abroad, traveled the US some, and got thru college. Well, ok, I finished last semister married to her mother.My wife and I talk about it a lot - we are better prepared now than we were then. We don't want to start over now, but both wish we had waited, done more either alone or together. Our daughter was born 2 years into our marriage and our life pretty much stopped there. Well, at least the grand trips, the big life-risks, the dreams took second place to the necessary realities of being young and having a small family.We love our kids, but as each generation wants their kids to have it better - we are SO THANKFUL that this book came to be. It communicates so well that you have basically one time to be young and to really make sure you consider your whole life before rushing down the aisle.Our daughter ended up asking us tons of questions - some weren't easy to answer - and we discussed some parts of this book for months. It's still a topic of conversation a times. The gift card is a minor investment, the book's message she absorbed is priceless. What she does in her life is up to her...but at least she has been presented some reasons for enjoying her young and single days.

Even though the book gives some good advice about life in your 20's it does not present a good argument against marrying young. The book states the things a woman should accomplish before marriage (all of which are well thought out and spot on) but at the same time these necesary goals are barely age-related. I've known plenty of smart 20-somethings who have already completed the "10 Keys" to life. In that sense couldn't they get married at 23 and still be happy? The book says otherwise,claiming that anyone under 25 doesn't have the mental capacity to pick a good partner. Also, it promotes 30 as the ultimate age of enlightenment while completely forgetting that women over 30 have marital problems too.I defiately agree that a person (regardless of age or gender) should get their act together before making the ultimate contract with another person, but to say they aren't ready just because they arent 30 is simply ludicrous.Three stars because the 10 Keys offer some very good advice, but not five because the whole thing seemed too narrow minded. Given the choice I'd probably read it again

I'm no longer waiting around wondering if each guy is "Mr. Right." I'm living- and Loving- my own life. This has been a revolutionary concept change. I love the exercises and questionnaires, and it addresses everything from wardrobe to finances to sex!! I especially liked the chapter about tapping into your adventurous side. This book helped me realize my own beliefs and feelings about things and realize that I'm not just waiting to get somewhere-I am Here...and I can grab the bull by the horns. Now when "Mr. Right" does come he'll accent and enhance my life- he won't BE my life. The authors have a witty yet insightful approach to some very real issues. I couldn't put the book down. I bought one for my sister and my roommate ('cause I'm not sharing mine!!) -Jenn

Psycho Bitch takes us through the personal realization of a young adult as she matures out of her sociopathic lifestyle. AJ Rico was a brave person to write this very personal story and, I do have to admit, it was not what I expected. Usually, when a first time author publishes a first novel, the writing is overly wordy and full of hard to read phrases.AJ Rico is a talented writer. I enjoyed how she brought this story to life with just enough information to keep me hooked. I felt every possible emotion for the main character, Charlotte, and loved how Rico helped us gain complete understanding towards the end. This book is an easy read and it is perfect for a long train ride, road trip, or day relaxing at the beach. At 217 pages, it’s also a quick read, which is a good thing because I found it hard to put down.I give Psycho Bitch 4 boundless stars for “I really enjoyed it.”...Beth

Pervo First read this in 1959 (published in 1904) and was amazed. read again in 2013 and more amazed. at dawn of 20th century the "Dark Ages" were an article of faith. This is now less true, but few have even approximately the scope of languages and learning that K. possessed. Here every reader will discover authors and texts that are essentially unknown. most are now better known because of k.'s groundwork, but his synthesis remains nearly enchanting. this was one of those paperbacks edited by Anne Fremantle that launched a revolution in this country for quality paper books. if you know a lot about this period, you will learn more. if you know little about early medieval europe, this is still an engaging introduction to its literature.

Bad Boy Strikes Again By April R Symes Part two of the story picks up where book 1 left off and as the story continues , this book has me of two minds. On one hand, I love the angst between Adrian and Elizabeth is still as prominent; he treats her at times so bad yet Elizabeth accepts this because , as the reader, we can read her love for him and she is desperate for him to see how much she loves him. Now on the other hand, Dominic can be loving and when he is, then Elizabeth knows she can do whatever he asks no questions asked. Its only when he is rude, arrogant and coldly brutal that makes me, as the reader, wonder why Elizabeth is staying and then we have cliffhanger and WOWZA , it’s a doozy of one…It left me gasping, praying that Adrian doesn’t make the mistake that ends their relationship for good…Praying that Elizabeth speaks up ..GAH!! The cliffhanger ending is a good one, cannot wait for book 3 .My rating: 4.5 stars *******A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****

Love the story line and the twists and turns Elizabeth's and Adrian's lives take. The cliffhanger at the end of this book has me craving the third book. Well written!! About the Author Marshall Gordon, EdD has spent over 40 years teaching mathematics in secondary schools and mathematics education and philosophy of education in undergraduate and graduate school. He has been at the Park School of Baltimore since 1985.

How do we as educators nurture a student’s capacity to figure things out? There are all sorts of ways to tell students what the answer is. Our textbooks and teachers’ guides are filled with them. Enabling Students in Mathematics seeks a different kind of practice, one where, with the guidance and scaffolding of the teacher, students get better and better at engaging the material and finding the answers themselves. As Dr. Gordon puts it, this way students “get the opportunity to create themselves just as they would want to be –as resilient, thoughtful, capable mathematical thinkers...” Dr. Gordon takes a 3-D look at students and schooling: how to engage students and develop their mathematical intelligence; how inquiry, especially via group work can promote their social development, and how important it is to have students become more reflective on their practice as problem-solvers. At the heart of it all lay two realizations: that mathematics is not simply an array of techniques, like invert and multiply when dividing by fractions, but that it makes sense, and further that they can appreciate how it makes sense, and with that appreciate how understanding is both a resource and an agent in coping with life.

It's a multilevel novel aimed a bit more at girls but should affect guys too. The basic theme has to do with dealing with the death of a best friend and schoolmate. However, there's a lot more. Suzy is convinced that her friend was stung by a jellyfish and sets out to prove her theory. She's obviously a very bright student and is being well taught how to carry out a scientific project.Suzy is a very complex character and one the reader can love. The novel is strongly educational while entertaining. Suzy tells her story in the first person.There's a lot here also for parents who choose to also read the book. This is a sensitive masterpiece that I can recommend to child and parent alike.

Mortimer The Thing About Jellyfish is a touching tale about a young girl whose best (and only) friend drowns while on holiday. As the story progresses we discover that Suzy’s grief is much more than just the loss of her friend, but frustration at something happening without apparent reason, and regret about the things that took place between them before her friend died. Such a lot for a young soul to carry. I finished this last night, but I’m still feeling emotional about it. I’m so pleased I discovered this book.I feel like I’ve just had a life changing lesson in jellyfish, amongst other important things, from a very smart 12 year old. I liked her outlook on life, the world and the people around her. I admired her strength and confidence, despite not being popular at school. There was something special within her that I wish I’d had when I was being bullied at school. Perhaps I did have it, but didn’t realise it at the time. I had very frizzy hair too, and I wanted to tell her, it’s okay Frizz Ease and hair straighteners will become your best friends once you’re a little older. You can control the frizz.I suspected this book was going to make me cry before I even started it, I just didn't realise I'd need a whole box of tissues. What a beautiful, delightful, yet emotional tale.Although I enjoy religious and spiritual books, I loved how this had the same emotional impact on me without the religious aspect. I was surprised how learning scientific facts about jellyfish, with a bit of philosophical thought thrown in, could be so emotional and thought provoking.This is like Stephen King’s Carrie for kids!The Thing About Jellyfish is a great story for older children, young teenagers, and it seems this 37 year old girl very much enjoyed it too.I would like to thank the publisher, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers for allowing me a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I Admired Certain Aspects of This Book; I Just Didn't Enjoy It By Pop Bop Suzy is dealing with the death by drowning of her former best friend by indulging in self-imposed silence and a stubborn refusal to talk to anyone. This exploration of grief and denial is beautifully written with graceful notes and arresting observations on every page. It is also over 300 pages of precocious, self-absorbed navel gazing by a girl who is apparently unconcerned about and untouched by the emotional carnage she is leaving in her wake as a consequence of her behavior. Mom, Dad, sibling, friends, teachers, and so on are just collateral victims of Suzy's journey.At the outset I alternated among: appreciating the tone and style of the writing and the beautiful phrasing and pace, checking to see how many more pages I had left, and wanting to slap Suzy in the head with a cold wet fish.Reviews and blurbs emphasize the elegiac passages, the jellyfish angle/conceit, and Suzy's marvelous search for personal and universal meaning as she navigates her own inner space. O.K. as far as that goes. Suzy is also cruel, irresponsible and a major narcissistic drama queen. This all makes the book interesting, maddening, annoying and compelling.I guess my point is that this isn't an emotionally satisfying trip down memory lane with Scout in "To Kill A Mockingbird". This is a roller coaster ride through the mixed up and complicated head of a conflicted and sometimes childish and dense twelve year old girl. It isn't all gauzy and upbeat and for all of its mild and mellow passages it is challenging and in many ways confrontational. So, if there was ever a read-it-yourself-and-see-what-you-think, this is it.Please note that I picked up a free copy of the ARC of this book at the 2015 ALA Convention. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.

Aven writes some of the best crazy dark reads. I have no idea where she gets this stuff, but I'm so thankful she does. I have been a huge fan of these characters since NOVA. and honestly I don't know where to begin so here goes nothing.Mark: This man has stollen my heart. The son of Paul Jameson is a vigilante, instead of the sick and twisted person his father could have made him. Don't get me wrong, he is still a little on the coo-coo side, but we all love a little crazy. He has everything he's wanted, and hot chick that loves him, his son is now around and the hotel he uses as his fortress. But, as always drama and problems know how to follow him wherever he goes. There is so much that goes on with him in this book, I'm surprised he didn't off himself. But, our in control CONTROL FREAK always has answered for everything.Jules: This crazy women is my favorite! She is balls to walls when it comes to Mark. Like she said " she's Bonnie to his Clyde. " and that could not be any truer. I can honestly say that she is his soulmate. She is bright, funny, talks sh**, lovable, and compassionate. This girl has a nice surprise going on in this installment, but I can say she is going to get an even bigger surprise of her life. Plus, she is now trying to form a bond between Mark and Jack. Wanting them to find their own relationship, without the Jameson blood ruining what they could have. Let's face it, this family is Effed up, but just wait......Jack: Ok I seriously love this kid. He's bratty, inconsiderate, and a total horn dog. But he has gone through a lot, so I'm giving him a break. He is going to start to find himself in this book, with the help of Mark. Well that's if he doesn't end taking his revenge on his father. He's lost a lot in the last year, and more than anything I think he's confused. You are going to go on a crazy ride with this one. Teenage emotions are something else.I am secretly hoping that we get a story with Jack, maybe a few years down the road or something. I would hate for this to be the end of these characters, I don't think I could take it. Cove, Soph, Jack, Mark, Jules and the boys I love! I've tried several sticker books, but this is by far the best I've ever seen for toddlers. Beautiful, clear, REAL pictures of objects (rather than drawings) makes this stand out from the rest. Most of the stickers are large and the pages have large outlines of the items for kids to place the corresponding sticker on. The ONLY downside to this book is that the sticker pages don't have perforated lines to easily tear out so it's not only impossible for kids to tear the sticker pages out, but it's pretty challenging for adults to do it without ripping some of the stickers (in a frenzy when you are in a restaurant desperately trying to appease two anxious toddlers). That being said, a positive thing about the sticker pages is that they put the page numbers where you can find the outlines to go with each particular group of pictures. This way you can have your kids decide which pages they'd like to work on and flip to the appropriate sticker sheets to quickly find the stickers needed for that page. Love these books, wish they had a variety of them just like this! But for now I'll just be ordering these again once my kids have finished!

We "read" it every night and it works perfectly for both my girls (2 and 6) because my two year old is able to identify the item and place the sticker and my older daughter can use her emerging reading skills to affix the word sticker and read the word for each object. They love taking turns with the book which I LOVE, haha. The stickers can be repositioned easily a couple of times (within reason) so mistakes can be fixed pretty easily. The pictures are colorful and a good representation of the item so it's perfect for little kids. The colors are bright and keeps my 2 year old's attention longer than most books which makes reading time a lot easier and enjoyable. Might buy a second one for later on once this one's been "stickered" and exhausted (kinda like Mommy some nights haha).

It would probably be more educational for a slightly older child, as my son mostly sticks the stickers anywhere. But, he surprising likes to "read' the book too. Nice and big stickers, too!
