These books in the Chasing The Dreams series are not only about finding love, but about friendship, family and ... Well... Chasing your dreams even if the odds are stacked against you. It's about never giving up and finding support in your friends and family. I love the fact that Briggs characters are diverse. You have Caucasians, Asians, Hispanics, and African Americans. Being an Asian married to a Jewish boy, it's great seeing a mix of races and ethnicities in a story. Additionally, whether it's about music, comics, or fashion, Briggs seems to know her stuff. Telling the story in a specific character's point of view is also strategic. In More Than Music, it's the geeky, music prodigy girl falling for the player. Then in More Than Fashion, it's the player girl falling for the gentleman. Briggs really has a talent of breathing life into her characters and making her stories realistic. Keep up the awesome work!

By Sharna Weaver The boxed series of Elizabeth Briggs' Chasing the Dream Series takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of seduction and sadness, elation and torment, and despair and hope. These complex characters are all just normal people who are flawed, yet have extraordinary things happen to them. I recommend this boxed set as a great read for anyone who needs just a little bit of magic along with their normality.

Books 4 and 5 review By LJ The author continues with the saga of the Burrows family and those who have joined in the fight against the Chinese invaders. These two books are fast paced with lots of action, albeit, some action is once again far fetched and exudes the perspective that; the Chinese don't know what they're doing. Whenever they're attacked, by any of the Burrows clan, it's overly simplistic and everyone seems to know exactly what needs to be done to take them out. They've taken down four helicopters now with ease and precise measures, along with 50-60 invaders and other 'bad guys.' Pretty darn good for 'civilians.'Over five books now (very short novels), they're just getting around to forming their 'militia.' The government thus far, doesn't seem to be fighting at all, and it's implied that; Ian Burrows is the only person that could or can possibly make all the difference in the world. I kept asking myself throughout these two books; "where the heck is the military?" There's no way there would only be National Guard personnel in a national situation like this.I sense that this series is going to grow into a lot more short books before it's all done and over with. I haven't yet decided if I'll continue with this series, for it's beginning to bog down for me. Plus, if the author is paying someone to 'edit' for him...he's NOT getting his money's worth. There are words that are left out and usage of wrong words. Several times, the word "thought" is written as "though." This isn't something a spell check will pick up...it has to be proofread to catch these things.Anyway...the premise of the story is good, it's just lacking some logical thought lines that would make the story flow and make more sense. For example; Any CIA operative would have went out and tracked down Captain Wu immediately, once it was brought to their attention that he was in the area. But Ian doesn't do that...he lets it go, and it costs them dearly. That was not logical and made no sense...especially when they had the manpower to do so. All the kids are depicted as 'SEAL Team" members who are ready and willing to take the fight to the enemy. And Mary? Here's a gal that; within two weeks, becomes so gung-ho that she wants to kill anything that moves, yet in book one, she didn't like guns and was scared of guns. But because her partner was killed by the invaders, and Ian gave her a 15 second pep talk, she is now the 'sniper' for the Burrows clan. It's kind of laughable, really.

I love TEOTWAWKI fiction and this is one of my top three favorites out of the dozens I've read. Not implausible and gives some good tips in amongst the story without taking away from it. The ONLY issues are 1- a few editing issues where words are misspelled and 2- I HATE having each "book" really be a chapter!!!! PLEASE don't do this! I would much rather buy them all at once as one BOOK instead of 5 or more chapter sized short stories. That makes me crazy and the only reason I bought this is because of the great reviews. I normally will pass over any book less than 200 pages.

For all ranting about Ramona, notice the title... its a story about her brother... not her. Its a great book. Don't judge a book by the crappy ratings because they "expected" it to be about someone else.

By Piano lover the only reason I bought the kindle version was because I was looking for something to do on a snowy day and I love ramona singer and thought I could gain some insight to her alleged abusive childhood by reading her brother's book. He is disgusting to me. He trashes ramona in the most disgusting ways the very few times he mentions her.. saying she chased him with a bloody tampon and asked him to look at her new blonde pubic hairs. Don't waste your money. There is one mention of abuse when his father was drunk and had his boot on their mother's neck.. there seemed to be a lot of good and a lot of money in the family, family picnics, etc. there was no emotional connection in the book. just like reading someone's diary and I got bored. don't waste your money!

Knowing the author first hand I have seen these methods in action and witnessed the interaction between parent and child and used some of those methods to help in my relationship with my own. Congratulations to both authors keep up the good work.

It sounds very similar to many self-help books on the market, except this one is aimed at parenting! Think of the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People and Think and Grow Rich, except in a parenting book on how to better understand your child. If you like those books then you will love this one! (BTW, it's for both parents and children, because you hear the voice of Jamilah's daughter in this one as well)It focuses on a few points:1) It will help you understand your child better as a single parent. Your child(ren) has a voice, and they would like to be heard and understood.2) It will emphasize that although you must cherish your child or children, it's okay to have a little free time to enjoy yourself.3) Develop a balance between parenting and working life, and be sure to remember, you are a parent, not a friend.This is not only a book on parenting, but a story. The story is that of the author growing more mature as the book goes on. There are a few major turning points that I do not want to spoil for the reader, but I highly recommend this book EVEN if you are not a parent or thinking about having a child, because it will teach you to appreciate the voice of any child you may come in contact with! ^_^

He does not like to read, and it has always been a struggle to get him to read any kind of a novel. We got him this set, and he can't wait to read them all. He started out reading one chapter a day, now he reads two chapters each day. He has even asked to read instead of watching tv.

My child and I read several chapters together every night. Each book is numbered and should be read in order, as the story progresses from one book to the next. As an adult who does not love Minecraft but is familiar with it, I find the stories to be a little boring. My child, however, loves the stories and relates to the adventures the characters have. This boxed set makes a very nice gift. I do recommend the set for anyone who likes Minecraft.

She has Minecraft swords, figurines and she often builds different worlds on her XBox and iPad mini. My workplace had a book fair a couple of months ago and I saw this book there. I bought it and showed it to her when I got home. She finished reading the book in 3 days and asked me if I can buy the other books written by Winter Morgan. Good thing it's available here on Amazon because this was more expensive at Target.I'm not sure what this book is about but I love that my daughter loves these. These came in a boxed set and although one side of the box was a bit crushed (maybe due to shipping and handling?) , the books were still okay. She loves this set and I like that she automatically grabs these and reads them on her own.

Delightful By Anita Burns This little book was written by my stepfather's sister, a gentle woman with a kind heart and strong faith in her spirituality. When her son died suddenly, she was devastated but kept up a strong front and cared for others. Since my stepfather's death, she has been kind and concerned for my mother who is suffering from declining health and demential. I have a great respect for Maralee and was moved by this simple book full of heart and healing.If you are experiencing grief, and have a faith in a higher power, I recommend this slim volume packed full of healing words.

By MR.GOOD BAR First off I would like to say that the author of this book is a wonderful woman of God and I'm proud that she wrote this story about her childhood up until she came out of the fire as gold. Her book is an inspiration to me because I know her personally and the life she lived with John Doe. She was very secluded and it was like she didn't have a life outside of being with him. When I use to see the author crying it was like she had the devil riding her back and I didn't like to she her like that. The author loves God. Anyone that know her knows that she stay praying and she stay in the word. I remember there were times when John Doe did not want her to go to church and hear a word from God and it made me look at him in a different perspective. As to the author of this great book keep on telling your story because you are the only one can tell it the right way. Love you always and keep the faith. To add insult to injury, the two married and Lyon was forced to attend the wedding to keep gossip at bay. You can't imagine how much it hurt him to see the love of his life marrying his brother. The book picks up five years after the initial meeting between Gypsy and Lyon. Gypsy's husband, Ricky has passed away in a plane crash and she returning to England to plan his funeral. The physical attraction between the two is as strong as ever.Wow, this book is longer than any of Harlequin stuff I've ever read. I usually read the harlequin presents line. IIRC, this book has 325 pages. Well this book should have been chopped at around 200 pages. To an extent, this book was at times redundant and long-winded. I give it three point five starsThing you may or maynot like about his book:1. physical abuse- Gypsy's grandfather slaps Lyon's wife.2. the fact that Lyon's wife "male friend" does nothing to protect her. Keep in mind I don't want an all out brawl to go down at a funeral but dude protect your woman.3. If you don't like adultery you certainly won't like this book. The hero lyon had wife all along. His affair with Gypsy wasn't his first.4. Heroine marries hero's brother. So unless you like the keeping it in the family theme, you may not enjoy this book.5. The hero has blond hair.6. Hero makes move on the heroine the night of his brother's funeral. Tacky tacky tack

Jealousy, Misunderstandings and Relationships Too Complicated to be Believed By Sheila M FINAL DECISION: This book is well written and strongly compelling. There are so many twists and turns that I couldn't believe so much could be packed into such a short book. Unfortunately, however, I didn't buy the relationship between Shay and Lyon. There was too much anger and pain between them to be resolved so quickly.THE STORY: Shay Flanagan aka as Gypsy was eighteen when she met and fell in love with Lyon Falconer. They began an affair that ended when Lyon ruthlessly told Shay that he would never divorce his wife for her. Shay left him and ended up married to Lyon's youngest brother instead. Five years later, Shay's husband has tragically died and Shay is pregnant. Lyon wants Shay back but she never intends to be vulnerable to Lyon again.OPINION: This book is filled with angst and drama. In fact, Shay spends most of the book hating Lyon. Her strong emotions make it difficult to accept her quick change to love again. Unfortunately, this book is well written but probably too short for the complicated story. I thought everything about it was well written except that I didn't believe how quickly Shay could forget the husband she so desperately loved to end up again with a man she claimed to hate for 80 percent of the book.This isn't a couple I will be thinking about for years despite the claims in the book that they have a romance for the ages.WORTH MENTIONING: GYPSY was originally published as a category romance in the 1980s.CONNECTED BOOKS: GYPSY is a standalone book.STAR RATING: I give this book 3 stars.

By misslavonne It took me a while to get around the fact that the man (Lyon) is married to another woman throughout the entire book! He's cheating on his wife, who loved him at one time, with 18 year old Shay/Gypsy. He doesn't divorce his wife Marilyn (for reasons revealed in the end), so Shay marries his brother! The story is well written. The author has covered all bases, but who wants to encourage this behavior, for whatever reason, by reading about it? It lost a star because he's married and it lost a star because they didn't get it right until the end. So throughout the book, you're mad! 3 stars is generous.

The word "practical" is a most important focus in the title. In reading, I found a sense of calm in knowing that I was not losing my mind, or going crazy, or just plain weird. As a "new" widow, I find the emptiness overwhelming at times and picking up this book (between counseling sessions) is a great boost to my sense of where I am now.

Best at Capturing the Emtional Turmoil of Losing a Spouse By A Customer I read several "widow" books after losing my husband suddenly to a heart attack and this book did the best job of capturing the emotional turmoil of losing a spouse. It is very difficult to cope with the unwelcome changes in ones life and this book helps to guide the way.

Dixon Overall, this book is good for those having to endure the experience of being a widow, but it seems geared more towards women of another, older generation where women traditionally didn't work outside of the home and depended on their husbands to do the typical "male" things, like handle finances, home repair, etc. I lost my husband very recently and very suddenly, but have had a career for a long time and certainly know how to handle all the finances, etc. The book assumes that widows totally identify themselves as "homemakers" and through their husbands. It gives advice on how to hire handymen, assuming that most women cannot do home repairs or easily learn how to do them. Thus, I really couldn't relate to much of what was in this book since the advice seemed so dated to me. There are still some helpful chapters regarding the grieving process, but overall, if you're younger than maybe 65, this might not be the most helpful book to read.

I'm a new mom and the first year is definitely challenging, all the struggles are real and we have faced them at one time or another. The dynamic of the characters was interesting, they are meant to represent a specific style of parenting and a type of group and sort of had all the stereotypical qualities associated with that group. I can say with certainty that not all of Brooklyn is as described in the book. Despite this small flaw and a simplistic view I really related to everything else in the book. The emotions and feelings and even situations were powerful. I was able to figure out who was behind MKB early on, so I wouldn't call this book a mystery but it was a very fun read.

Ariella writes characters that you can relate to--real problems, messy relationships and the ups and downs that are just part of life with kids. Just like Momfriends, this is a fun and very funny read.

Ariella Papa's writing has such vibrant personality to it, and the flawed characters are utterly delightful. One of my favorite parts was the creativity of the kids' names which lovingly pokes fun at us Brooklyn parents.
