I found myself completely caught up with the characters and story. At first, I was a little disturbed by the fact that the ending left some things dangling, but then I realized that, just as the characters seemed like real people that I might know, the ending was also like real life-- continuing on and leaving possibilities to be considered. It was a happy ending with the opportunity for future happy developments.

Lucy is a wonderful woman and she takes on the responsibility of fostering a young girl, Evangeline, whose mother is committed to a hospital for mental illness. Lucy has been through so much, the loss of her husband Sam and the death of friend and lover, Luke. She can't believe she might have another chance at happiness with her lawyer, Jim. With Sassy and Delia finished with college and working she is happy to have Evangeline in her life and have the healing effect of Peace Cottage bring her happiness. I love Lisa Kent's books and rate her right up there with Debbie Macomber . Love this series and hope for more.

They covered a period extending from 1837 to 1891, and proved to be the complete correspondence between my father and his brother John during those (more than fifty) years.These letters, exchanged by two brothers of such eminence, and many of them written during the most stirring events of our country's history, seem to me unique. They form a collection, complete in itself j they are of great historical value, and the expressions of opinion which they contain are so freely given as to furnish an excellent idea of the relations that existed between my father and his brother.Realizing all this, I have decided to publish the correspondence by itself; and in so doing, my chief desire has been to let the letters speak for themselves, and to put them in such form that they may be easily understood. It's a work about Literacy Services of Wisconsin, where I have served as a volunteer for nearly twenty years. Volunteers, guided by skilled staff, teach adult basic education, prepare students for the GED exam, and help students whose first language is not English learn.The stories of founders who started the organizations fifty years ago, and stories of tutors and students are heart-warming and challenging. You might even be inspired to volunteer at an adult literacy program near you.

By Kamna Jha I have read several books on autism but this book's uniqueness is reflected by the title itself as it offers concrete and practical guidelines to all queries and concerns on whatever level a child is on autistic spectrum.It tells us about physical interventions and positive handling techniques along with behavioural management strategis. Author tries to provide knowledge on how to help an autistic child by converting their emotional, sociology and behavioural challenges into their potential and skills. I am sure by reading this book any family dealing with an autistic child will get new hope and learn simple methods that they can apply and give a positive direction to their life.

The stories are funny and true By Patricia Northup This is an honest yet humorous look at the progression of Alzheimer's disease and how it affected one family. The tone is conversational as if one were having a chat with a friend. The stories are funny and true. I knew this delightful, loveable lady. I learned a lot and would recommend the book to anyone past forty. The book can help one understand how to help a relative or friend and know how far dementia has progressed. Another issue is that as we age, we need to understand whether our memory issues are "normal" or not.

Ervin How happy and pleased I am that Stan and Jan Berenstain's son has continued with their Bear books. I have loved all of them and have shared them with numerous children over the years. I especially like this one When I Grow Up because it is such a good one for little people to begin their thinking about careers. I would definitely want this book in an elementary school library and the classrooms as well. The illustrations as always are great. The color is brilliant and the story is excellent. It is never too early to begin pondering the ideas of what to do when you are grown up. More of our children need to start thinking that way. This is a very good book especially when studying careers at school . I am a great fan of the Berenstains. Keep them coming!

There are so many great ways to talk about this topic, I was baffled at the presentation in this book...brother an sister bumped into the professor in the park and then called their mom and dad on a cell phone to ask permission to get onto his bus then rode some sort of magical bus that toured them through all the career possibilities it was weird and dumb and awkward. If you read the Dino Dig then you know who the professor is, but if you didn't then he'd be a new character and it even weirder. Pass on this one.

28 of 28 people found the following review helpful. I am Yoga By Bernie D. Texas I love this little book. I am 64 years old with health issues and it is very difficult for me to exercise. So, I decided to try these "baby" steps and I am amazed. I can do everyone of these poses and I can feel where it is stretching those lazy muscles. I still have a long way to go to perfect the poses but this is a great start. I found I sleep much better too after doing these.

Reynolds is an amazing illustrator and an excellent author in his own right. And second last year I became a certified DDP Yoga instructor and love practicing with my kids. And third the cover was so amazing I was literally waiting and waiting for the book to finally come out.This book did not disappoint. In fact it was far more than I ever expected. My son has neurofibromatosis and one of the reasons I pursued Yoga certification was because he loved working with me. This book will bring to him a side of yoga I need more of in my life, focus, calmness, centering and mindfulness.The story by Susan is one that almost all of us can learn from. And the illustrations are amongst Reynold's best ever. The balance of color and light, the pallet used and the mix of full color and monochromatic illustrations works so well.This was a wonderful book that I have already read numerous times and know I will be sharing with my kids, friends and family often. It is wonderful!

15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Stunning and uplifting By Daniel G. Geren This book is beautifully illustrated with wonderful motivations to introduce a youth to yoga. Each page has the young girl colorfully rendered in a yoga position with an imaginative written meditation. Each of these ideas are incredibly uplifting and would go far to add growth of the mind to that of the body to anyone's practice. The book concludes with common english and sanskit names and detailed descriptions of the poses in the story. I will have to couple this book with my future purchases of All I See Is Part of Me by Chara M. Curtis for baby shower gifts. Love it!

Author, Jennifer Dai, brings alive the new live of young chicken, Ava, and her perspectives of living in this exciting world, Jennifer uses her skillful writing to metaphorically describe how Ava grows and learns: the first sight of the new world, the encountering with her first friend, Brownie, the duck, and her first attempt of swimming. It's a great story to tell kids about and inspire them with Ava's exciting journey. It's also perfect for adults to sit back on a Sunday morning and really relax with a cup of coffee on a story where their stress is no where to be found.

By Woofdog If you didn't/don't know or care for Peanuts characters and situations as written by Charles Schultz for decades, then raise this review to 3 stars. The story itself is harmless outside of that context.If you do/did, then know that the book using what claims to be original Schultz art (I wonder how many pages are composites) with a very definitely non-Schultz story. The characters present all speak/think/behave out of character. This property is majority-owned by Iconix now, and this is them digging for grave-goods from the Peanuts property.I won't buy another one of these. There are better ways to introduce young children to peanuts. I assume this book is timed to exploit the interest caused by the film.

But hey, for anyone who has come out of a relationship and still has a hard time with it, it’s a great read and they deserve to feel better. One thing about the book was that I had the feeling it was more so targeted towards women, since it talks about your “man” or “guy” or “He is the one.” But I think many of these principles and solutions can be applied to men who have a broken heart too. The best thing about the book is that it gives you solutions and ideas to use when you want to heal your hurt feelings more easily and move on with your life.

The quintessential guide to a better classroom By Beanodean The Allenders have clearly invested an enormous amount of time and their lives into the goal of making education something to cherish, as opposed to survive. I was particularly struck, and moved by the letters Donna Allender writes to her grandson, who as far as I can tell, is still too young to read them. If every teacher read this book, even if he or she didn't fully agree with the Allenders' premise, it would without a doubt change, if not how they teach, how they think about teaching, which would in turn lead to a better experience for students. I highly recommend The Humanistic Teacher to any one who has ever had any experience of our education system.

Great advice for the most effective sales and leadership strategy - storytelling By Joe Tye Christoph Trappe has made an important contribution to the growing literature on the power and importance of storytelling for anyone engaged in leadership (including leadership in the family and community, not just the business), sales (and one way or another we are all in sales), promoting nonprofit causes and organizations, or just about any other endeavor that requires you to persuade, influence and inspire others. What makes this book so special is the way the author shares practical how-to strategies for crafting and telling an authentic story, often illustrated with real world examples. In particular, I found his strategies for sharing stories on blogs and social media to be especially helpful.

In the online space, there is so much junk. By being authentic you can cut through the clutter. In this book, Christoph teaching you how to do just that. I was really impressive by the vast information the book offers. Ranging from writing headlines to social media to content marketing and even giving real world examples. In particular, I liked some of the subtle points in the book. Like for example, not being perfect when telling stories and how to deal with those setbacks publicly. Overall, great book and one I would recommend to anyone looking to get into storytelling in marketing, which all people should.

Wanted to like it....but didn't By Tyne Steele I actually didn't like this book from the start - it did get better, though, because the explicit scenes were very well done. I believe the very first chapters turned me off because of the military situation, and how unbelievable it seemed. I had trouble believing Derrick was truly that hard off for some female company after only 4 months on tour. Having known friends who went longer, it was...laughable. After about chapter six, I started to get more into the story and emotions of the characters. I just really had trouble connecting at first - once I completely ignored the military aspects, I got into the romance more. I think that had it been set in a more fictionalized world, I could have suspended my disbelief more, when it came to military aspects/protocol. I know it's not the main point of the story, but it was what kept me from completely enjoying it.I received this book for free in exchange for a thoughtful and honest review.

The characters seemed shallow to me couldn't really connect with them. They are in Afghanistan almost killed make it to an abandoned building then they have sex for the first time. That's just not believable to me at all you are in a war zone almost killed and all over each other then the next morning he wakes her up, she wants to talk about what happened and he says to her we can't forget where we are at we could be killed. Hmmm OK. The mc is a total jerk it is alluded to former drug addiction but never much said about it thought maybe that's why he is such an ass. And after all the times he is a jerk she is like I have this connection with him blah blah maybe it's cause of being in a war zone together the thought of dying brings you together idk but it doesn't excuse him from being a total jerk.

By Rosemary What happens when US Army Corporal Derrick Watson is ordered to escort an American journalist, Ariana, out of the war zone in Afghanistan? Sparks fly, of couse! Their story is full of thrilling and dangerous moments as well as hot steamy sex.Leila Haven is a wonderful storyteller. The characters are believable and the chemistry is off the charts. Highly recommended read!
