From School Library Journal PreS—Dewdney tackles the topic of staying at Gram and Grandpa's overnight. Llama is excited for his special visit as he packs up his clothes and his stuffed animal, Fuzzy Llama. However, when he unpacks, he realizes, rather upsettingly, that his comfort object was left behind. Gram and Grandpa spend the day distracting little Llama by playing outside or building in the workshop, but with each activity, he anxiously remembers Fuzzy Llama's absence. While the text carries along with a seemingly pleasing nighttime routine ("Take a bath./Then comb and brush./Settle in for stories. Hush./Finish books/and get a kiss"), the illustrations show Llama looking more distressed and anxious before bed. After Gram asks what's the matter, we watch as "Llama's lips begin to quiver./Llama starts to shake and shiver./Llama needs his Fuzzy near,/but FUZZY LLAMA ISN'T HERE!" The following page shows all three Llamas looking at readers for help. Quickly, it's Grandpa who finds a solution. Grandpa offers a special toy from when he was just a little boy. In a satisfying ending, Llama realizes he's not alone and that he's in his "home… away from home." About the Author Anna Dewdney (www.annadewdney.com) lives in a very old house just past a covered bridge in southern Vermont. She taught at a boys’ boarding school for many years before becoming a full-time author and illustrator. She is the mother of two off-in-the-world daughters and three stay-at-home dogs.

We love the Llama Llama books and I really appreciated the fact that Anna Dewdney has decided to honor grandparents in her new book. It makes me feel special. Through the years I have seen so many young children enjoy the Llama Llama books. They are just pure fun to read and we love the illustrations a lot. I am enjoying reading this one to our greats and even one of the grands! Llama Llama is just good stuff.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Another Llama Llama winner. By My 2 Cents As a grandparent I'm a huge fan of Anna Dewdney's Llama Llama series books (the little ones love them too). So of course I had to immediately order this latest book when it was released earlier this month.In this story little Llama Llama is going for his first overnight ever. He loves spending time with Gram and Grandpa even though he's probably a little nervous. He helps mom pack his overnight bag, and gets ready for the car ride. After mom leaves and Llama Llama goes to unpack his bag he realizes "fuzzy" Llama is missing and he can't stop thinking about him. However, he's still enjoying some nice snacks and some new ways to keep busy and have new kinds of fun at Gram and Grandpa's, but when bedtime comes he is missing "fuzzy" llama. Grandpa, however, manages to come to the rescue and makes everything all right.What is so nice about this book and the other Llama Llama books in the series is that they discuss a problem or issue and come up with a solution in the process. Each book is told in simple, rhyme verse which children (especially little ones) love and find easy to memorize as well. The bold illustrations, pleasing colors and details make this book and this series a pleaser for kids, parents, teachers and of course grandparents.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I love this book! By Lauren R. Like all of Anna Dewdney's children books, this is another MUST HAVE. Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa is cute, funny and teaches some morals all at the same time. I love this book.
