A must read for those going within and feeling that they are "awakening" By Kim Jackson Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. For this, there ARE messengers between the Worlds in serving and protecting the people as the people wish; and even if they cannot comprehend~there is ALWAYS something we can ALL take away from another's personal experience. For those who are strong enough to stand against the criticism and ridicule, I commend you. As ridicule is the last argument of a FOOL. Michael gives a personal account of his awakening, which is to be commended~NOT criticized or ridiculed. There have been activation's for some time now, just as the Hopi Rainbow Prophecy and many other religious creeds have foretold. The Matrix is a system that shapes realities around you based on your own feelings, fears, desires, expectations, beliefs, emotions and thoughts and as the old 3D matrix system has been crumbling for sometime, it is now giving way to the new 5D matrix system and new earth of the future that is no longer EGO based and whether most human are unable to comprehend this or not~IT'S HAPPENING. This is the REAL MATRIX that Michael has AWAKENED to, which he has chosen to share in simple terms with the world, and I commend him in doing so. ANY true warrior knows: Strength of Character is the ability to overcome resentment against others to hide the hurt feelings and forgive quickly. "It isn't always about how much you can handle before you break, it's more about how much you can handle AFTER you've been broken."

By Laurennyc This book was a gift from me from a dear friend who had the opportunity to experience Michael Evan’s kindness first hand.... I will forever cherish it. Michael Evans is an extraordinary individual. His act of kindness defines what it is to be a selfless human being.Michael Evans' book, The Matrix hit home for me. I too was living in the same matrix. At the age of 9, I went through a horrific and life changing event that has forever shaped my life. I lost my father through another's act of violence. This tragic event caused “anxiety” and “depression” that plagued my life for much of my existence. I was deemed clinically depressed by a psychiatrist.... The medical professionals chosen by society to deem one acceptable or unacceptable by society's standards. I was put on innumerable anti-depressives and anti-anxiety medications. I was ignoring my consciousness by numbing it with pharmaceuticals that allowed me to remain hostage in this matrix. After 8 long of medicating myself to escape I finally questioned my existence. That was the day I decided to free myself and conscious.... to finally take a step into the afternoon of my life. I had a spiritual awakening that led me to seek professional help through therapy and meditation. This was not an easy task... I often remind myself of the road I had to take to finally arrive to my matrix.I purchased a copy to share as all proceed go to a children's charity.

Mr. Michael Evans explains all of the "negative" lies that we have been told all our lives that play over and over again in our subconscious. He said that these lies are, of course, wrong, but we have to do the work to reprogram our subconscious to think positivvely. We can't be envious of what other people have. We have to love everyone: that takes the negativity out of the picture. He has been doing this for a very long time. I recommend, no.... suggest, that you read it as soon as possible, so you can change your thinking to change your entire life for the better! I believe in him and I am going to follow exactly what he says. I opened my mail and received a $1 bill immediately after reading his book. It is not much, but it was an immediate response to Mr. Evans advice! This is just confirmation that this does work and is just the start of things to come!Thank you to Mr. Michael Evans and Word-Slinger for giving me an ARC copy of this book to read and give my honest review.

From USA Today and NYT best-selling author Cora Brent....

Those dirty-talking, hard-loving, sexy alpha triplets are back! This time it's Chase Gentry who has met his match in the latest story filled with gritty realism, steamy bedroom antics, and the unbreakable bonds of love and brotherhood. May be listened to as a standalone.

Stephanie... As a bookie, I know more about money lines, pay sheets, and point spreads than any six men. I always thought I was in control until a terrible betrayal taught me otherwise. The price was my dignity, and I can't bear to make any more mistakes. Chase Gentry figured it would be easy to get to me. He thought I was like every other girl, just dying to spread wide for him. I knew it was a rotten gamble to get mixed up with a guy too smart and too hot for his own good. Chase is destined to be as much trouble to those around him as he is to himself. But it's too late. He's already won my heart. Everyone around us insists that we're wrong for each other - too intense, too explosive. Everyone might be right.

Chase... Gentry men aren't supposed to be very bright. We're big. We're brutal. Women can't wait to invite us inside. I know I can have any one of them I want any time I want. It seems unlikely that some bad-tempered chick and her snotty attitude would keep my interest, but here it is. Stephanie has no idea what she does to me. I want that girl in more ways than I can even talk about. It should have been enough to have her and be done with it. But no matter how volatile we are together, it's never enough. To hell with anyone who objects. I'm not letting her go.

Warning: The third book in the best-selling Gentry Boys series contains explicit language, sexual situations, and violence that may be upsetting to some.

The connection between these three brothers is so well written. You don't doubt how strong their ties are to one another. Reading how each of them finds "the one" and watching their relationships develop was worth the lack of sleep I suffered from late nights of reading. The sex is steamy and the dialogue is funny, hot, and dirty (those boys have mouths on them!).These are three young men who have had a terrible childhood and you just can't help but root for their happily ever after.I'm looking forward to reading their cousin, Declan's, story.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The third installment does NOT disappoint! I think you'll love the Gentry Boys! By Darlene Tallman In the first two books, Chasyn (Chase) appeared very light-hearted and devil-may-care. However, it stands to reason that if Cord and Creed had deep-seated issues from the abuse suffered, so would he.An ambush in book one left Chase dependent on painkillers. Confronted by his brothers, who told him, in essence, that they would go into any abyss to get him out, he chose to enter rehab. Now clean, he is enrolled in college, using his amazing intelligence for "good".And that's when she catches his eye. Stephanie Bransky. Truly's (Creed's girlfriend) roommate. From the start, there is something different about her. He doesn't know what it is, just that he wants it.Stephanie moved clear across the country to escape a painful past - mother dead, brother murdered, second brother in the wind, father in prison. In order to pay her way through college, she becomes a bookie. And, she's good at it until she makes a bad judgment call that ends in her complete and utter humiliation.Chase pursues Stephanie. Stephanie pushes him away. He has secrets he is keeping from her; she's worried about a video. Will they get past their pasts? Will Chase, like his brothers, get his happily ever after?

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A good series. By K. K. I will admit, when I first saw this series, I was concerned. Underground fighting is such a rage right now and while these men all seem to be beasts in the ring and the bed, they don't all have dimension. However, this series is really more about love and beating the odds. The best book by far is Chase's because it shows what it's like when you're afraid you won't overcome your past, your name, the demons you've lived with your whole life. Chase is weak -- not because he's an addict, but because deep down he wants something he knows he can't have and it makes him weaker and less sure of himself. He wants a family, he wants his parents to love him, unlike his brothers who just want to forget. Chase can't forget and that's what makes him so real. I adored his boyish charm and his rocky relationship with Creed which said it all: you don't always like your family, but they are most often the people who make you feel whole, even if they break your heart. Steph, well, I loved her vulnerability and her ability to carry a baseball bat and beat the crap out of people. I adore a girl and her f bomb and I found her insecurities to be so real that I was feeling them all with her. Overall, I liked the book and I'm happy with the series.

Excerpt from Henry Wadsworth LongfellowThere is no lack material for a life of Longfellow. A large part of his own journal has been published, and his brother and his friends have given in sufficient detail the necessary data. The preceding narratives of his life, however, have been written by his immediate contemporaries, who have told us of Mr. Longfellow as they knew him in the fifties or the sixties. My aim has been to present the same facts with such comments as are now appropriate - the comments natural to men who have been born since Longfellow's best work was done, and who, though they honour him not less than did his contemporaries, must of necessity judge him, and the little world in which he moved, from a different point of view.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Be Forewarned By L.A.C. A friend and I toured Longfellow's home in Cambridge this past July and were absolutely delighted by the experience. The work they do to preserve his house and property is truly remarkable and I would strongly recommend it to anyone. Sadly, this is also where I picked up a copy of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: Selected Poems. They carried many attractive collections of Longfellow by reputable presses, but, foolishly, I was swayed by this handsomely bound volume which promised a broad collection of lyrics plus three lengthy narratives printed in their entirety.Unfortunately, the volume is so badly edited, I have already urged the Longfellow house not to carry it! Indeed, there are several hundred errors and probably more imperfect pages than good ones. Most routinely, there are uncountable typesetting or typographical glitches. Strophes within the same poem, for instance, are not consistently formatted or divided with an empty line - making for an awkward reading (see, for example, the confusing elision of Crashaw's motto with Longfellow's poem, A Psalm of Life, p. 53). In addition, spaces between words are often dropped or else extra spaces appear - I especially like those before punctuation which leave a comma or semicolon floating in the margin.Of course, these are amusing, though minor, embarrassments. However, all too many errors are of grave consequence. The last six lines are missing [!] from The Courtship of Miles Standish (p. 110). As printed, the poem ends with a comma!! Also, six strophes are missing from the opening poem, The Builders. Some mistakes are utterly bizarre (strophes 10-12 of The Wreck of the Hesperus read "Oh fatherl...O fathert...O fartherl!," p. 66), and it is unimaginable that the editors would have missed them had they actually done an editor's work! Worst of all is the highly corrupt, Hiawatha. Dozens, about 60 by my count, of individual words are dropped at random throughout the text (ten instances alone between the bottom-half of 170 through p.172, for example). As a scholar of music and poetry, my concern may be more intense than some - I have obsessively re-edited the entire volume for myself (making it quite serviceable for my purposes, however ugly!). Nevertheless, excepting someone who wants only a pretty souvenir for the mantle (perhaps, the intended customer of Castle Books - and their parent company, Book Sales, inc.), no one could remain unflustered while reading through this book. This relects badly on both the publishers and the editors, Johanna Brownell and Lisa Lipkin (why did it take two of them!?). Considering that Longfellow's poetry is well within the public domain, it is sad that someone wishing to own a collection of favorites should be duped into purchasing an attractive, yet often unreadable, volume. It certainly should not be sold on the premises of a first-rate, national institution that honors the very poet the publishing house treats so carelessly.

A collection of essays and stories showcasing one of America’s most insightful thinkers at his best Featuring both short stories and critical pieces, The Death of Picasso exhibits the versatility and innovative thinking that drives all of Guy Davenport’s work. As a critic, he takes on topics such as Ruskin’s life and influences and Benson Bobrick’s history of English versions of the Bible, through which Davenport explores how translation has affected the text’s interpretation for centuries. Both his fiction and essays contribute to the eternal conversation on how the arts reflect, inform, and influence the human experience.   In his short stories, Davenport vividly evokes entire worlds—such as that of a regatta on the Thames or an air show in Northern Italy—with an eye for telling details that typically go unnoticed. Fact and fiction combine and shift forms throughout the collection, for instance, in “The Concord Sonata” when the author manipulates time and space to put thinkers like Thoreau, Wittgenstein, and W. E. B. Du Bois in conversation. Davenport’s uninhibited imagination and singular gaze reveal both the commonplace and the sublime in a new light.

The Death of Picasso: New & Selected Writing, by Guy Davenport

From Publishers Weekly Davenport (Da Vinci's Bicycle), author, poet, critic and artist, has gathered 27 essays and stories (some never before published in book form) that span his career, and this collection shows him to be, above all, a masterful stylist. Like Ezra Pound and the Imagists, he uses precise, rhythmic and visual language. His writing is akin to a drawing or haiku, carefully composed and firmly structured, but the language is steeped in intertextuality. Historical, literary and classical allusions abound; in a single paragraph of the title piece, Davenport refers to Goya, Freud, Marcel Jousse, Daumier, van Gogh, Moliere, Alfred Jarry, Ionesco, Klee and Mozart, among others. His essays range from the history of birds in English and American literature ("Every Force Evolves a Form") to an anthropology of table manners, while his short stories tend to focus on historical figures, usually artists or philosophers, often with homoerotic or otherwise sexually charged undertones. Nearly all of his short stories and essays employ discrete paragraphs, either titled or numbered, forcing the reader to slow down and examine each sentence as if it were a poem unto itself. Davenport might fairly be compared to Donald Barthelme, another American author who fuses the high modernist tradition with postmodern collage. The author's fragmented, prismatic, allusive style and overpowering erudition shine through in this collection and that ought to please his fans, but the average reader is well advised to keep a set of encyclopedias on hand in order to digest this volume. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From Booklist Who knows where you'll end up once you venture into Davenport territory?^B A stellar stylist with a tantalizingly light touch, rarefied yet relaxed sense of humor, and deep insights into the literary and artistic greats he transforms into fictional characters or boon imaginary companions, Davenport writes with equal imagination and verve about the tanginess of an orange, the mystery of love, quantum physics, music, and a lashing rainstorm. And leave it to this prolific writer, artist, translator, and scholar to select 27 pieces from his rich and complex oeuvre, many never collected before, and assemble them into a dazzling collage neither introduced nor organized into categories. Readers are on their own as they enter scenes of erotic passion between young men or touchstone moments real or concocted in the lives of Kafka, Van Gogh, Thoreau, and other Davenport heroes. This endlessly intriguing gathering of stories and essays is a perfect introduction to this cosmopolitan yet earthy writer even as it offers fresh revelations to those already initiated into Davenport's alchemy. I read voraciously, and have several favorite authors, but Davenport is the only one I habitually return to and re-read. DEATH OF PICASSO will introduce you properly to the MacArthur genius award recipient who remains largely unknown despite being arguably the nation's finest stylist. Guy Davenport's fictions are multi-layered delights. You can root around in them again and again, each time finding new nuggets and making new connections and cross-connections to his other work and to the larger world of fact and literature. D of P includes not just fictions but also criticism, which in Davenport's case mean not dull stuff for insiders but richly detailed and entertaining adventures. If you are looking for enormous talent and knowledge, displayed in writing that always delights, Davenport deserves your attention. The only thing lacking in D of P is his excellent drawings, which he has from time to time employed to add still another layer to his unique confections. Take a chance, buy this book. You may find that you have stumbled across the author you should have been reading all along.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Dinner at the Bank of England By Geoff Puterbaugh "The Death of Picasso" is a fairly typical production by Guy Davenport: surprising on almost every page, and nothing more surprising than the lovely sketch, "Dinner at the Bank of England," which describes the eminent philosopher George Santayana arriving to have dinner with the young British soldier in charge of guarding the bank. This is an absolutely lovely piece of writing, which brings out the virile beauty of the young British soldier just as clearly as it emphasizes the extraordinary clarity and beauty of Santayana's thought. Santayana, typically, enjoys what is there for the taking (the soldier's beauty and young spirit), enjoys his dinner, and then shuffles off, back to his hotel, well content. The handsome young soldier was happy as well: he had just invited the world's most eminent philosopher to dine, and somehow that invitation worked.---Updated review------Santayana's account of this evening is in his autobiography, "Persons & Places," volume II, "The Middle Span." Davenport obviously mined this source to produce his story's framework, but the dialogue is all original with Davenport. However, there is more to the story. As Santayana tells it, he was on board another ship when he got a message asking for him --- from the head of the table. And there was the handsome young guard from thirteen years ago. By now, of course, 25 had turned into 38, and the beauty was pretty much gone. Rather chillingly, Santayana tells us how he discouraged the renewal of the friendship --- in fact, how he gave the soldier (now married, with a family) the social "cut" of the scholar. Many people have called George Santayana a cold fish, and right here is one of the reasons why. I wonder why Davenport's imagination couldn't carry him into this encounter.

Here is one of many such paragraphs which just leaves you a little breathless"Now I Yosef was walking and I walked not. And I looked up into the air and saw the air in amazement, for the clouds were standing still, a hawk was fixed in its flight, neither going forward nor falling, and the earth had stopped turning on its axle. And I looked about me and saw workmen at their dish, some with their spoons halfway to their mouths, motionless. And I saw sheep being driven but they were not and stood still, and their shepherd had raised his staff and it came not down. And at the river where his kids had gone to drink, their mouths were upon the water and they drank not. And the smoke from a fire under a pot in a yard rose not and was like a picture on the wall of a house of the Romans. A waft of dust that the wind had lifted hung in the air. Then of a sudden all things moved forward in their courses"

By Dawn Finbloom As a mom of a teen girl and speaker advocate for Make Good Decisions helping teens and young adults be aware about alcohol, drugs, and other destructive decisions, and medical amnesty laws I view this book as a must read and a must keep nearby for reference. I have read the entire book an I cannot wait for my daughter who is a high school junior to read it too. I will NOT have her wait, as now in high school (even middle school) is the time. I just need for her to have a little free time to read!! Much of what is in this great book also applies to young men. I would love to see a Bulletproof for young men too. Really this is for all middle school girls and through life. I am middle-aged, thought I knew a lot about safety, yet I learned a lot and I want my daughter and her friends to have this knowledge and resource. I highly recommend this book as it can save and improve lives. I plan to buy more copies and give them to my daughter's girlfriends. Thank you Leah Severson for this greatly needed work!!

The author obviously interviewed many people who have experienced some of life's hard lessons. The idea is that we can learn from these experiences and hopefully avoid them in our personal lives. I enjoyed the testimonials. Thanks to the author for all of the research. I ignored one of the lessons even while reading the book. It only underscores the need for reading and re-reading the book. I am going to make this book a gift to my grandchildren and a topic of frequent discussion at family gatherings.

I have three daughters, ages 30, 28 and 25 and I'm sending a copy to each of them to read. When you stop to consider all the dangerous situations young women face, particularly between the ages of 16-24, it's a shame that the information covered in this book is not being taught in the classroom. This books gives parents a tool not only to teach their daughters about being safe and secure, but also to start conversations about subjects that can be difficult to talk about.

By Jordan I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about Cyberbullying, the prevention of it and how we should respond when it occurs. I checked out this book after seeing the new ABC movie on Cyberbullying. The amount of and quality of information contained in this book is amazing! There are numerous writers which contribute to the content throughout it; this really gives you a look at Cyberbullying from many different points of view. Whether you are a victim of Cyberbullying, bully yourself, educator, parent or just interested in the topic, I would definitely recommend this book to you. I rarely write reviews on Amazon, but this one was worth my time.

I especially found Chapter Three: What to do if your child is a cyberbully helpfull. Sad to say, but I find myself (my kid) in this situation. I think it will help me alot and point me towards what I need to do.

It covers the essentials of cyber-bullying, which is broken down into 3 chapters. The 4th chapter gives a general scope of information regarding what campaigns have been made to help prevent cyber-bullying, so it’s only important if you’re interested in becoming more involved in this community. Each chapter is short and to the point, which for anyone that needs quick advice this is a good place to start. However, I felt that the book could have given more information on how to handle the situations; while it gives you advice on how to approach the situation, it lacks the depth for those that may be struggling in dealing with more severe cyber-bullying.Overall, I feel this is a good book if the problems have only started, or you may feel that the cyber-bullying has not escalated to extreme scenarios. If this sounds similar to your situation, then this would be the best place to start.
