9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. My 2 year old loves this book! By Lauren Boucher My 2 year old loves this book, and bounces when I pull it out at bedtime. After a few days, he has started pointing at pictures, and says things like up, down, banana, star, happy, sad, bowl, hat etc… The book is colorful, with pictures of real life objects cut-out on various solid colored backgrounds. Here is my overview of what is in the book.1) The book opens with the alphabet. The alphabet is paired with animals, starting with alligator and ending with zebra.2) Numbers are paired with food. Numbers go from 1 to 10 and the food items are mostly fruit and vegetables.3) Colors start with a picture of a rainbow. Then, there are 7 pictures of colored objects showing each color of the rainbow.4) Opposites goes through quite a few important concepts. Included are, up/down, in/out, hot/cold, wet/dry, front/back, on/off, open/closed, empty/full, safe/danger, big/small, asleep/awake, long/short.5) Shapes pair objects with the following shapes. Circle, square, rectangle, triangle, cone, star, oval, and heart.6) Sounds demonstrate a variety of noises, from animals (monkey, cow, rooster), people (sneeze, hush), and objects (phone, drum).7) Actions shows pictures of kids as they crawl, roll, walk, run, hop, ride, kiss, and jump.8) Emotions shows expressions on kids faces for happy, sad, angry, scared, frustrated, shock, surprise, and bravery.9) Sports identifies different types of balls, showing baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, football, and golf.10) Engines shows pictures of different types of vehicles, like fire truck, car, race car, helicopter, airplane, and truck.11) Sizes shows small, medium, and large varieties of flowers, berries, leaves, and toys.12) Body, identifies head, shoulders, knees, toes, eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. I love singing this page.13) Tableware shows, sippy cup, bowl, pot, cup, plate, fork, knife, and spoon.14) Clothing runs through hat, shirt, pants, shorts, gloves, sunglasses, socks, and shoes.15) Bath time shows a toddler in a bath, soap, and a rubber duck.16) Bed time shows a kid brushing their teeth, a potty, book, and a child sleeping in bed.17) Activity. The book ends with an activity page, asking kids to identify the different images on the page which look like they were randomly selected from different sections of the book. My son will point to them as I read them out loud, and only struggles with two of them. This book was absolutely worth it. It is an excellent resource to teach my son a whole bunch of words and concepts. Highly recommended.

So much fun and filled with info By Renee @ Mother Daughter Book Reviews Brain Games features five chapters worth of mind-bending games, challenges, puzzles, and fast facts designed to explore the limits of the human brain. Among the contents covered in the book include an overview of how your brain turns senses into thoughts; how the brain makes memories; how the brain deals with emotions; how the brain makes decisions; and, how the brain directs the body’s movement.Within each chapter there are a number of sections, each beginning with a challenge (e.g., “Draw a circle with your left hand and AT THE SAME TIME draw a straight line with your right hand.” or “Start singing the ABC song. Did you get it right? Most people learn that song when they are very young. But you don’t sing it every day, so why was your brain able to recall it?”) Afterwards, there is a simple scientific explanation that describes how the brain is operating to account for how the reader responds to the challenge. Also peppered throughout the text are little sidebars cleverly entitled “Mind Matters”. These contain little snippets of information about the power of the brain. As with other National Geographic Kids titles, Brain Games is a beautiful book that is laid out in an eye-catching, child-friendly way using varying and colorful fonts, gorgeous photographs, and interesting infographics. But this book in particular is a visual delight with its fun and entertaining “Brain Breaks”. My kids and I had so much fun flipping through the book and just looking for those! My Bottom Line: Brain Games is another winner from National Geographic Kids! Full of activities, puzzles and fun, this information-packed and beautifully illustrated book will fill your children’s minds while exploring the wonders of the most powerful computer in existence. I highly recommend this title for children ages 8+.* This book was provided to us by the publisher free-of-charge in exchange for our honest reviews. All opinions expressed are our own. *

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Kristi's Book Nook By Kristi Bernard “Your brain is the most powerful and complex super computer ever built. It is the one thing that makes you, You!”There are three main parts of the brain: the Cerebrum, the cerebellum, and the brainstem. The brain is the most important organ in the human body. It controls and serves commands throughout. Readers will learn how the brain turns senses into thoughts. Readers will learn sights and sounds are processed through the brains relay center. How does your brain store all of your memories? There is a three step process involving neurons as the brain is constantly making decisions. Do you want an orange or banana? Do you want ice cream or a cookie? Your brain is differentiating between your acquired knowledge. Your brain can then create a short cut which ultimately puts the brain on “autopilot”. Your brain can even get to a point where it makes things up.Readers of all ages will be excited to learn about how the brain works. If you’ve ever wondered how the brain makes your body move when you jump, swim, skateboard, or dance you can learn all about it here. Readers will find puzzles, challenges, colorful illustrations and real photos. The back of the book has brain maps, a glossary, and online resources. Readers can also watch television episodes of brain games on the National Geographic Channel. Parents and teachers can use this guide for teaching, talking and sharing learning about the human brain.

She is the inquisitive student and her aunt is her teacher. Her classmates are some interesting characters with unusual names. For instance, Yum Yum is a cotton-top Tamarin, an endangered species from Central America. She learns where Central America is on the map. She also learns a little Spanish.Keira and her classmates created a rap-song using words that were homophones and they added a beat to it. They were so excited to perform their new song and beat.

Humor and heart come together in this contemporary love story about second chances and family life... "Spare Me the Drama is a read that will have you laughing, swooning and rooting for the characters." -- Bookish Things and More When widowed father of eight Martin Leon remembers that he forgot to invite an important guest to a birthday party for one of the kids, who can blame him? Since his wife’s death, he’s struggled to juggle the demands of a large family with the equally demanding job as head writer of the daytime soap opera he and Jeanie once co-wrote together but which he must now pen alone in the face of a dwindling audience, an executive producer only too happy to alter the course of his stories at her slightest whim, and a nagging case of writer’s block. Roxanne Hunter parlayed her sexy role on After the Loving into a lucrative, luxury-bedding business years ago and didn’t look back. Just when she was on the brink of having it all, the universe pulled the rug out from under her, leaving her to nurse a devastating double loss of her own. Accepting Martin’s last-minute invitation, Roxanne decides it’s the perfect getaway to take her mind off her lonely life. All she wants is to fulfill a promise she once made to Martin’s sister and find out how he and his brood are coping with grief. Though Martin may wake up one of these days ready for a woman again, Roxanne has no intention of reliving the days of her youthful, secret crush on him. But the females in Martin’s family have other plans. Startled by the revelation that she is as much a stray as anyone else Martin has taken into his household, Roxanne nevertheless allows herself to be enfolded into the embrace of family life and a romance with him. Can she fulfill her promise to get through fate together, or will the universe – and the past – pull the rug out from under her one more time, just as she’s about to get the happy ending she always wanted but never dared dream she’d have?

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Good, but not memorable novel. By Janine M. Randall Spare me the Drama, while an entertaining read, didn't really stick with me once I finished it. I had a hard time getting invested in the characters and their goings on. The H was a little too perfect (except for wallowing in sorrow for his dead wife most of the book), and the h was someone I don't know if I would have been friends with (kind of important thing for me). An ex-actress she now sells her own brand of mattresses. She has a thing about food that was never really explained, just making her look shallow and vain. Through previous circumstances she decides she's "unmarrieable" and sticks to that pretty much all the way through. The H writes for a daytime soap and the h was an actor on it for a brief amount of time. There are also a great many (8) children involved that I had a hard time keeping track of and a subplot about a bratty teenager (which while understandable was rather predictable). There was also more predictability regarding a situation for the h I though was unnecessary and pulled me out of the story. I won't go much further because there are so many different plots going on throughout the book, it would take up a lot of space. This isn't a bad thing, but it's definitely not a book you can put down for a few days and pick back up again. I would probably read more of the author's work, but would make sure that there was more character development and less external goings on. I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Women's fiction By Reader Lady My MusingsThis is the first book I have read by Karen Tomsovic. I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.Spare Me the Drama has a lot going on. The hero, Martin Leon, writes for a day-time soap opera. His wife who wrote the soap opera with him has died. They had eight children. He mourns his wife deeply for a good part of the book. While the heroine, Roxanne Hunter, is introduced fairly early, there is not really any romance between the pair for quite some time.Roxanne believes she is unmarriageable. She is an ex-actress and now she has made her fortune selling her own brand of mattresses. She has known Martin for years since she played a character in the soap opera for a short time and was also his late sister’s best friend. I liked her character, but she does have a few odd turns that were never explained. She has issues with food for one, but I never understood why.The chemistry between the hero and the heroine is there but comes out well into the book. I liked Roxanne and Martin, but I would have liked to have developed a stronger connection to them, to really get inside their heads. That did not happen because there are so many sub-plots in this story. Two of Martin’s children have a strong presence in this story. If you enjoy YA stories, then you will find them entertaining. For me, this took away from Martin and Roxanne, which kept me from becoming vested in their characters. After the halfway point, the story picks up and becomes centered on the romance developing between the hero and heroine. I enjoyed that part quite a bit. In fact, it turned me around and took this book from 3 Gold Crowns to 4. Unfortunately, the ending dropped it back to a 3 again. I don’t want to give details, but what happens to Roxanne should not have happened in my estimation. Plus, the ending was a bit abrupt. While there were issues for me, overall, I did enjoy the story. If you enjoy women’s fiction and strong family relationships, then you will like Spare Me the Drama. I’m probably not the best judge of this type of story since I’m a true romantic at heart, and for me, the romance is secondary in this book. Happy reading!

When I was much younger I was totally addicted to ‘Days of our Lives’. So the fact that this book’s main character Martin is a soap opera writer was intriguing for me. I loved reading about his writing process to come up with the crazy soap opera ideas. What a sad twist that his writing partner and love of his life was deceased unexpectedly. I could really see his pain in losing her.Martin has 8 kids! That’s a lot of kids and each one came with their own personality and quirks. That was a fun thing to read. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where one of the main character has a huge family of 8 kids. The kids were fun to read and see their take on their new world without their mother and watching their dad start to enter the dating world. They seemed more ready than he did!I gave this book 4 coffees. The book is a sweet romance about two long time friends and co-workers who finally realize they might be meant for each other. Martin has the hardest time with this after just losing his wife. But watching the transformation in both Martin and Roxanne is great. You can see that they will make an amazing pair if they can just get past their quirks and issues. And the kids are really all for it.I really liked reading about some of the older kids and their lives. They kept the story moving with their own ideas and problems and it was great to see just how Martin and Roxanne fit into each spot in their lives. What I Loved:-I loved how sweet and almost ‘innocent’ this book is. It’s refreshing to see that point of view in a romance novel.-The soap opera aspect. Soaps are complicated and Karen wrote it well. What I didn’t Love:-There is a lot of characters and at times I had a hard time keeping up. Not enough to make me dislike the book though. What I thought of the Cover:-I LOVED the cover. It’s professional, gorgeous and perfectly fitting of the story inside. My Conclusion:This is a great first in a series by Karen. I can see this writer moving up in the charts. It’s a fantastic read with a storyline that hasn’t been done a load because of all of the kiddos involved. I like reading about each character and what they were thinking of the overall happenings in the book. I closed the book really liking all of these characters and I’ve no doubt you will too!for more info check out hellochicklit.com

Fans of Bella Andre, Sylvia Day, Victoria Dahl, and Maya Banks will adore the latest addition to Alden's steamy PRIVATE series! Former Green Beret Daniel "Deck" Decker has spent the last five years keeping A-List actress Jane Bowden's body safe - and his hands to himself. A professional to the core, Deck would never mix business with pleasure, especially when Jane has always kept the relationship strictly business. But that all changes one hot night when Jane, dealt a blow by the tabloids, turns to Deck for comfort. What starts as a consoling embrace quickly turns passionate, and Deck's long simmering desire can no longer be controlled. But when harsh reality intrudes, any hope Deck has that their steamy night is the start of a new chapter in their relationship is demolished. Jane Bowden is used to living her life under a microscope. But in the wake of a very public divorce where Jane was made to look - and feel - very much the fool, she's even more careful not to make any wrong moves. She knows that if the press finds out she's sleeping with her bodyguard, they'll paint her as the pathetic woman on the rebound and Deck as a scheming opportunist. But before Jane can talk to Deck about when and how they can reveal the truth, Deck quits. Heartbroken, Jane realizes that while she thought this was the start of something real, Deck only wanted a one night stand. But when disaster strikes and Jane’s most secret fantasies are leaked to the press, Deck is determined to convince Jane that the key to her happiness is making her private passions a reality. Hot but same By Amazon Customer Just like the others...the sex was hot....but by this third book you catch on to phrases the author uses over and over during the sex scenes. Just like the second book, I liked this book throughout but the ending really made it for me.

It is full of hot, steamy sex with a great love story. We meet Jane, a big time celebrity and Deck, who is Jane's bodyguard. Jane was married to Ryan, another hot shot celebrity. Ryan left Jane to be with another movie star. On the eve of an awards show, where Jane is to be a presenter, Jane finds out that Ryan's new movie star wife is pregnant. Something that Jane had desired with Ryan... Jane is devastated to learn of this news. Deck arrives to pick Jane up to escort her to the awards show; Deck sees how upset Jane is and comforts her. One thing leads to another and well, you know what happens then. Follow the story of Jane and Deck as they embark on their journey to happiness, under the constant spotlight that is Hollywood. On a scale of 1-10 for hotness, I rate it a 20. This book is very hot; I thought my kindle was going to melt in some scenes. Enjoy :)

By Reese Ryan Alden tells the story of a mega movie star who falls for her long-time bodyguard, who is secretly just as enamored with her. While Jane and Deck fall into the relationship at an unfortunate moment in her life, it quickly grows. But being together will require each of them to make some serious sacrifices. As always, Alden brings the heat with her four-alarm fire love scenes. But we also experience the deep pain of both characters as they struggle to make their fairytale romance fit into the realities of Jane's world.

Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. Alaina Rutger was living her childhood dream—a family of her own. Her charismatic husband was driving her home from the hospital with their infant son strapped into a car seat. She had the perfect life.If only she could remember the man who'd put the four-carat diamond wedding ring on her finger.A man who called himself Porter Rutger. Husband. Father of her child. And a man who'd been wiped from her memory along with the past five years of her life. She tore her eyes away from his broad shoulders and coal-dark hair as she sat in back with their baby. Her baby. Alaina tucked the monogrammed red blanket over the infant as he slept, one foot in a booty, the other in a cast that had begun the repair on his clubfoot.Another person she didn't remember. Another heartbreak in her upside-down world. A week ago, she'd woken in the hospital with no memory of the man sitting by her bedside or of the blue bundle in the bassinet.Waking up from a coma had felt a lot like coming to after the worst hangover ever, her head throbbing so badly she could barely move. But a quick look around showed her a hospital room rather than a bedroom. And a hot man sleeping in the chair, his dark hair rumpled. His black pants and white button-down wrinkled. Her own Doctor McDreamy? "Hello," she 'd croaked out, her throat raw for a sip of water.McDreamy bolted awake quickly. "Alaina?" He blinked, scrubbed his hand across his eyes in disbelief, then shot to his feet. ""Oh, God, you 're awake. I need to get the nurse.""Water," she rasped out. ""Please, a drink."He thumbed the nurses' call button. ""I don't know what the doctors will want. Maybe ice chips. Your IV has been feeding you. Soon, though, I promise, whatever you want, soon."The nurses? Doctors? He wasn't Doc McDreamy? Then … ""Who are you?"He looked up from the control panel of buttons slowly, his eyes wide with disbelief. ""Who am I?"She pressed her fingertips to her monster headache. ""I'm sorry, but I feel like hell. What happened?"""Alaina… " He sank slowly into the chair, his voice measured, guarded. '"We were in a car accident."""We?" She knew him?"Yes," he said, leaning closer to cover her hand carefully. "Alaina, my name's Porter and I'm your husband."The shock of that revelation still echoed through her.Once the nurse and doctor had checked her over Porter had further explained they'd been in a car wreck a month prior, after picking up little Thomas from the adoption agency. Her husband… Porter. Porter Rutger. God, she still struggled to remember his name. Porter told her the baby had a birth defect and had spent the past month going through surgeries while she'd been in a coma from the accident.Too soon, before she felt ready to handle this life she'd landed in, it was time to leave the hospital. She'd been told many first moms felt that way.But not all new mothers had amnesia. Her throat burned with bile and fears that hadn't abated since she'd woken from the coma a week ago thinking it was November, only to find it was December.Five years later.Five years of memories simply gone, pushed out of her head in the course of a month. Most devastating, she'd lost the four and a half years Porter had been in her life. How was it that four weeks asleep could steal so much of her life? That coma had left her mind missing a substantial chunk of memories and yet her body felt 100 percent normal. She'd even been attracted to her stranger husband, so attracted that the aches and lethargy left over from her coma hadn't dulled the shiver of awareness she'd felt at the brush of his hands against her as he helped her from the hospital bed and into the car.She swallowed hard and turned to look out the window at the rolling waves as the Mercedes traveled the Florida coastal road toward what Porter had told her was their beach mansion. They also owned a home in Tallahassee but they'd been closer to the beach home when picking up the baby, then having the wreck. Traveling with their infant son so fresh from surgery and her so recently out of a coma hadn't seemed wise. The doctors had advised they stay close for the short term at least.Porter had quickly suggested they stay at their nearby vacation home. Apparently her tall, dark and studly husband was wealthier than Midas, thanks to his construction empire that won major contracts to build corporate structures around the country. They had no financial worries as she recovered, he'd told her. Another reason to be grateful. But instead of gratitude, she could only feel fear at the imbalance of power between her and this man who was her husband. She was adrift with only the facts he told her about her past. No family since her parents were dead. No friends, other than people she apparently hadn't seen in five years, since her breakup from an abusive boyfriend. She'd cut herself off from everyone then.Still, she was missing the months following that breakup, the months leading up to her meeting Porter. Falling in love with him. Marrying him. He said after they married, they'd moved to southeastern Florida, away from her hometown in North Carolina. She believed what he said, but wondered what parts he might not have mentioned. Men could be so brief in their explanations, leaving out details or emotional components a woman would find crucial.Porter glanced in the rearview mirror, his brown eyes as dark as undiluted coffee full of caffeinated energy.Jolt."Alaina, is everything all right?" he said, his Southern drawl muted by some experience in another region.Something else she didn't know about him unless he told her. What kind of answer did he expect from her? More of the same dodgy responses they'd given each other over the past week since she woke up? Guarded words spoken in front of doctors or said out of fear her fragile world might shatter into a somnolent fog again? Each mile closer to a vacation home she couldn't recall stretched the tension inside her tighter until she snapped softly, "Did the doctor give you any more insight as to why can't I remember the past five years? Nearly a quarter of my life is just gone.""The doctor spoke with you. He has an obligation to be honest with you. You're his patient." The man in the front seat who called himself her husband was unfailingly polite but lacked the kind of warmth that Alaina would have envisioned in a man she'd married. Her husband. What had made her choose this coolly controlled male for a mate? Another question she couldn't begin to answer. In spite of the spark that seemed to arc between them amidst the questions."I haven't forgotten that conversation. It was more of a rhetorical question because there are so many other things I don't understand." She glanced down at her sleeping son in his impossibly cute elf pajamas. "Such as, how could anyone forget a child this precious?"Her heart swelled to look at Thomas, his tiny nose and Cupid's-bow mouth calling to her every maternal instinct. She'd always wanted children, dreamed of having a big family after growing up an only child. If she and Porter had been married for almost four years, what had made them wait to start their family?"You'd only known him for a couple of hours before the accident." Porter turned onto a secluded drive where mammoth houses were hidden by manicured privacy hedges on one side, although she knew the other side opened to the water."The length of time shouldn't matter. He's a child, my child—" she paused, brushing her fingers across the top of an impossibly small and soft hand "—our child. That's life changing. A minute. An hour. A couple of hours. That should be burned in here." She tapped the front of her head."Even if your marriage wasn't?" he asked wryly.Contrition nipped. This had to be tough for him, too. "I'm sorry. This can't be easy for you, either.""You're alive and awake, more than I ever expected to have again." He said the emotional words with a harsh rasp as he guided the car along the palm tree-lined road. "I can deal with the rest.""You make me feel as if I shouldn't be frustrated.""Give yourself time." He kept both hands on the wheel, the late-day sunshine glinting off his Patek Philippe wristwatch. "You've been through a lot."How did she know the brand of his watch but not know if the band on his ring finger had an inscription? But then, she remembered studying art history when she'd got her bachelor's degree. Recalled a love of finely made things and beautiful objects. Maybe that was why the watch resonated and the ring…nothing."What about you? What have you been through this past month? It must have been horrible, with a child in surgery and a wife in a coma.""That doesn't matter," he said, his voice clipped. "I'm fine now."Her mouth twitched with amusement as the car braked at a stop sign wrapped in garland. "Are you one of those men who's too tough to be vulnerable?"His eyes met hers solemnly in the mirror. "I'm a man who thought he'd lost everything."And just that fast, she felt her terrified heart melt a little for this stranger husband of hers. "You still have, in a way," she said sympathetically, "because of me and how I've lost any sense of us and our memories."At the deserted intersection, he twisted to look over the seat at her, his elbow resting along the back and tugging his button-down shirt across his muscular chest. "You and our son are alive. That truly is what's most important to me."There had been tension between them since she'd woken up in the hospital. He still held all the answers she couldn't access. But now, with the sincerity shining in his eyes, she wanted to hug him, ached to wrap her arms around him and have him do the same to her. Most of all, to have that feel familiar. She stretched a hand out to touch his elbow lightly—A car honked behind them and she jerked her hand back. What was she thinking? Except for the few things he'd told her, she knew nothing about him or her or what kind of life they'd built together. Or what kind of future they might have because these events had changed them. Undoubtedly. However for Thomas, she and Porter had to try for a level of peace between them. Could the Christmas spirit work a miracle for her family?Shifting nervously in her seat, Alaina toyed with the reindeer baby rattle, gathering up her rapidly fraying nerve. "May I ask you questions about the past?""Why didn't you question more before?" He kept his eyes on the road this time.In some ways maybe that made this conversation easier."Because…I was scared you wouldn't answer.""What's changed?""We're not in the hospital. There are no doctors who make me do all the work thinking, insisting I should only remember what I'm ready to know. They kept asking me not to push to remember, but that's causing me even more stress, wondering." She needed to know. How could she be a real wife to Porter and a mother to Thomas if she didn't even know who she was or how they'd become a family?"You trust me to answer truthfully?" He glanced back at her, his eyes darkening."What do you have to gain by lying?"Now wasn't that a loaded question? One that called for total trust in a man she barely knew. But she had no other choice, not if she wanted to reconnect as a family. "How did we meet?""My firm was handling building an addition to a museum where you worked. You saw me flex my muscles and here we are."He sure did have muscles, and if they'd enticed her half as much then as they did now she could see how he would have caught her attention. His humor made him even more appealing. "You're funny, after all, Porter.""You think I don't have a sense of humor? You've wounded my ego.""There hasn't been a lot of room for levity this week."She'd been so damn scared in the hospital. Walking the halls at night when she couldn't sleep. Obsessively checking on the baby and praying she would remember something, anything from the past five years. Most of all, wondering about the mysterious, handsome man who'd spent hours with her each day."True enough. Hopefully we can fix that. We have the whole holiday season to relax, settle our child and get to know each other again." Through the rearview mirror, he held her eyes with a determined intensity. "Because, make no mistake, I intend to remind you of all the reasons we fell in love in the first place."His words made something go hot inside her, a mixture of desire and confusion and, yes, nerves. She swallowed hard. It didn't help. But even if she didn't remember it, this was her life. There was no choice but to push on. To regain her memories and her life. And figure out just what this man—her husband—meant to her. Not just in the past. But now.Porter Rutger had been through hell. But for the first time in a long time he saw a way to climb back out.His hands clenched the steering wheel as he drove his wife and son home from the hospital. The past month—worrying about how Thomas would recover from his first surgery for his clubfoot, wondering about possible hidden effects of the accident on the baby. And all the while his wife had been in a coma.Porter's jaw flexed as he studied the familiar beach road leading to the vacation home they'd chosen after their third in vitro failed. Before they'd adopted Thomas, their marriage had showed signs of fraying from years of struggling with the stresses of infertility. He and Alaina had been in hell for a long time, even before the accident. He'd thought they'd hit rock bottom when they'd contacted a divorce attorney. They'd been so close to signing the divorce papers when the call came about a baby to adopt. A special-needs baby, difficult to place, an infant who required surgeries and years of physical therapy. While foster care would have provided the basics, the search for a home would have to start all over again if they backed out, leaving the baby adrift in the system. They hadn't made the decision to adopt on a whim. They'd started the adoption process two years ago when the reality of infertility had become clear. Then they'd faced more heartache waiting. Their already strained marriage hadn't fared well under the added stress. To this day, he couldn't remember which of them had asked for a divorce. The words had been thrown out during an argument and then taken root, growing fast, lawyers involved. It had damn near torn him apart, but their constant arguments had made it impossible to envision a future together bringing up the family they both wanted so much. Even marriage counseling hadn't helped. They'd reached the end—and then the call had come about Thomas. He and Alaina had put their differences aside to adopt the baby and stay together temporarily. Her soft, open heart had welcomed the baby from the second the call had come. Thomas needed them. That had cinched the deal for Alaina. Then the accident happened and the possibility of losing her completely had made him want to shred the documents. Maybe he could have that family he wanted after all.And he'd had no idea how quickly that little bundle in the back would steal his heart. He would do anything for his son. Anything. While he would also do anything to have Alaina healthy, he couldn't ignore the fact that he had a second chance to win her over—for himself and for their son. This could be a fresh start, a way to work through all the pain they'd caused each other in the past.Yes, he'd made mistakes in their marriage, but this was a new opportunity to build the family he'd always wanted. Growing up with a single-mom lawyer who worked all the time and husband-hunted during her hours off, he'd craved stability, love.If he could only gain Alaina's forgiveness, or convince her that he was in it for the long haul this time, that he'd changed. Hell, if he could just make Alaina realize he wasn't the man he'd been a few weeks ago, then he could have the family he'd always dreamed of. The one they'd both wanted. He'd never been one to procrastinate or waste time. He was a man of action. And the stakes had never been more important than now.

A Christmas Baby Surprise by Catherine Mann By Madison W Fairbanks A Christmas Baby Surprise by Catherine MannAlaina Rutger has lost five years of memories in an accident. She wants to trust her husband but something is holding her back.Porter Rutger is grateful to have his wife healthy and recovering from the accident but he's not telling Alaina about the arguments and pending divorce in their past. He wants to make a fresh start and is determined to have her fall in love with him all over again. It can be very difficult for a person to adequately express their feelings. To be careful not to hurt another person, topics and feelings can be skipped, glossed over and perhaps misled. This story is painful because Porter wants to start over and protect Alaina. At the same time he doesn't tell her things she needs to know. He doesn't tell her his feelings. He retreats and makes the same mistakes again. They both want to create a new family but they argue without getting go the heart of issues. It's a romance in the end, so without spoiling it, they become close and begin to understand each other.I did like the philanthropy throughout the story. They gave donations and scholarships to many different types of art concerns. Nice touch.

Alaina was in a car accident that wiped out her memory of the last five years. She has a hard time even remembering that Porter is her husband.Trust and honesty are what is needed to help this couple come together. Sometimes Porter does the wrong thing for his own selfish reason and does more harm than good. This is a great story with a HEA. Also included in this book was Reclaimed By The Rancher by Joyce Maynard. This novella I enjoyed very much.Lucy and Jeff were almost married two years ago but the night before their wedding she saw Jeff kissing her best friend. She never let either one of them explain anything and spent the next two years wrought with anger over what Jeff had done to her.But then she needs his help. Both claim they hate each other but don't forget there is a fine line between love and hate. This is a book you won't be sorry you pick up.

By Amazon Customer Catherine Mann’s latest, A Christmas Baby Surprise, gives readers a chance to remember what it was like to fall in love for the first time. When Alaina Rutger wakes up in a hospital room she has no memory of past five years. According to Porter, the man sitting next to her bed, they were in a car accident, are married and have just adopted a baby boy. As Alaina tries to regain her memory, Porter tried to win his wife a second time. Alaina and Porter’s relationship is a slow build. It is fun to watch them fall in love all over again.
