Pathetic Characters and weak story line By Stay @ home mom I was really disappointed with this and would have quit reading if I hadn't received this copy for free in return for my honest review. The main h is extremely weak and pathetic. She comes from a home of abuse that is never explained and goes into an abusive marriage to an older man. The leading H is a returning Navy Seal with PTSD who is unbelievable as a character. I mean, he's supposedly served several tours but doesn't have a penny to his name and has to stay with his father and his fathers younger wife while adapting back into society. From his first look at his dad's younger wife (who has already described herself as too skinny and no light in her eyes because her husband has beat and raped it out of her) he is madly in love her. Yet he watched her be treated like dirt and after a few romantic interludes with her, he ignores her too. This was to convoluted and twisted with the h taking abuse from everyone. The ending is completely unlikely and hard to believe. It's sloppy and hastily throw together to offer a HEA.

Esquivel *** A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review***It’s definitely no secret that I love taboo stories, but this one definitely tested my patience, the theme was a little difficult to accept usually when I think of steamy taboo stories, its sexy interactions and easy banter, not physical and verbal abuse.Rose is a young girl who hasn’t had the best of luck in her case her parents mistreated her and neglected her, she finds solace in the charming and alluring older man who comes to her rescue and sweeps her off her feet and promises her the world. Things were too good to be true a year into their marriage Christopher begins to show his true colors. He is a manipulating, controlling, abusive and horrible man who gets off on raping; YES you read correctly raping his wife and controlling every aspect of her life she is deprieved of any interaction with the outside world, is expected to dress, eat and act a certain way. I couldn’t deal with her ignorance and acceptance, it was very frustrating. In comes Christopher’s son Ben a sexy Navy Seal who has returned from the war in Afghanistan. He is fighting his inner ghosts and has to see a therapist to try and cope. He can’t believe Rose who happens to be his age is with his father.Christopher becomes more distant as his sons arrival has messed with his schedule and as he does Ben and Rose who can’t help but be attracted to one another begin a very heated affair and she gets pregnant. Ben irritated me to no end I can’t believe how he reacted once she revealed her pregnancy, he was selfish and a major a**hole is my book. I just couldn’t handle it, I wanted to fall in love with him and hope that he would ultimately be Rose’s savior, but it didn’t work out for me I couldn’t sympathize with him. Rose really made me want to knock some sense into her the majority of the time.Ultimately all good and bad things must come to an end. Will Rose survive more abuse once her husband finds out? Will they be able to defeat the evil that surrounds them?

And at first I thought it was just another crazy fun taboo story but it's not, it's soooo much more. I saw the other ratings and have to say this Until you have been in Rose's shoes for even a Minute, then you can not understand the full deep of the situation. I have and know it's difficult but my best friend saved me.. She got her husband's son Ben to save her. And I truly wanted to kick his butt when he kept walking away but PTSD is a real factor too, so I had understanding being married to a veteran myself. It's hard to leave behind the ugly, but he did...Ok here is the story... Rose met Christopher when she was living in hell at home with her parents and he charmed her into blindness. He took care to always be charming and conveniently lovingly. But it was all a mask to the true monster that he was. Of course he didn't show her that until he had taken away all her family and friends so that Shea's completely alone. And far away from anyone to help her. And he beats her into submission and rapes her daily. But on one crazy day he tells her his son is coming in from over seas and is a navy seal, and will be staying with them for a little bit. She is a bit scared. What if his son is like him....what should she do?Ben is nothing like his dad but at first he doesn't like rose because he thinks she using his dad. But funny thing is that he hates his dad and is strangely attracted to rose but still doesn't like the idea of someone using his dad. He soon finds out the truth and come hell or high water he has to have rose. One thing leads to another and soon he finds himself angry with everyone and can't seem to stop hurting roses feelings. He loves her...and she him. He is her saving grace and her one true indulgence. Then she finds out she is pregnant and things get ugly and Ben leaves. Life is getting unbearable for her but she starves forward being left with Christopher. One day Ben shows back saying he wants to protect her and run away. He goes to get things in motion but Christopher appears again. What happened? Where is Ben? What about the baby? Did rose escape? Read and find out....
