About the Author Francis Koster received his doctorate from the program for the Study of the Future at the University of Massachusetts in 1982, where he studied the public policy implications of likely national and global futures and their impact on the United States. He focuses his attention on issues concerning the basic life support systems of air, water, food, energy, environment, and the public health consequences of how society meets its needs in these areas. Recruited to a rapidly expanding health-care organization in the 1990s, Koster established himself as pioneer in the application of information technologies in health care. His efforts demonstratively improved health care through the ubiquitous deployment of electronic records, thereby making patient information available over the internet; and "telehealth," among many other initiatives. In addition to his consulting practice, Koster writes newspaper columns explaining problems facing America, and introduces the reader to replicable and proven solutions already in place somewhere in the United States. Perfect stocking stuffer for that person you know who wants to make a difference in the world By Amazon Customer No doubt about it, there are lots of things to be worried about in today's world. If only we could do something about it. Dr. Koster's "Rescuing School Kids" takes on one area - education - and gives us a powerful and pithy book of practical things we can do in our communities to make a real impact on quality of schools all the way from the classroom to the cafeteria. If you have someone on your gift list who wants to make a difference, this would be the perfect stocking stuffer.

Whether it's helping the allergic, asthmatic, autistic, or obese student ideas included in this book will invite school leaders to assist their children in classrooms and cafeterias. Further, children whose parents are in prison, or single parents trying to make academic progress while holding life together have hope thanks to research of others reported on in these pages.
